Academy Talk: Understanding the Art of Vision, featuring UW-Madison Professor Shiela Reaves, who will share her research surrounding the intersections of neuroscience and the visual brain in an age of increased multitasking and visual stress from digital technology. In an effort to understand the art of vision and return to the creative power of looking and observing, Reaves will explore the visual brain and early survival tactics, how color increases our ability to notice depth, why it matters that our visual brain is ingenious at finding patterns, and how artists and photographers utilize the powers of the visual brain that all of us possess. Thursday, April 19, reception from 6-7 p.m. in The Loft, program follows in the Rocca Room.
