Gothic Gardening with Christina
This class will introduce participants to the dark, bold, brooding, dramatic, and moody Gothic gardens popular in the Victorian era. Participants will learn about the history of Gothic Gardening. Since Victorians created these gardens in part to cope with frequent death and loss, we will cover gardening for mental and emotional well-being in this class.
Participants will learn all about all the black flowers and other unique, striking, and bold plants featured in gothic gardens. We will discuss each plant, what it looks like, how to grow it and add it to your garden, what is symbolizes, and its history in gardening. You will learn where to get these unique plants. We will also cover gothic gardening design and gothic garden elements and participants will design (on paper) their own gothic garden in class.
