Policymakers in many countries are developing plans for and funding research in artificial intelligence (AI).  Global growth is slowing, and not surprisingly, many policy makers hope that AI will provide a magic solution.  The EU, Brazil and other Western countries have adopted regulations that grant users greater control over their data and require that firms using AI be transparent about now they use it.  Will the U.S. follow suit?

Speaker Matthew Friedel is an Angel Investor with Silicon Pastures Angel Investment Network, Senior Lecturer at UWM, Adjunct Faculty at Marquette University and Co-Founder of the Disruptive Technologies Laboratory at UWM. He teaches a Graduate level class: Practical Applications in AI and disruptive technologies in UWM’s new $10 million Lubar Entrepreneurship Center that promotes entrepreneurial and design thinking with emphasis on cross pollination of disciplines. Matt is also a Lubar Entrepreneurship Ideas Challenge Fellow, National Science Foundation (NSF) I-Corps mentor and is working with other faculty and staff on cross disciplinary learning.

Matt has an BS in engineering from UWM and MS in Engineering and MBA from Marquette University with focus on entrepreneurship and has consulted on software projects for Northwestern Mutual, Summerfest, RW.
