The Great Decisions Series is a part of the Great Decisions World Education Program.  Experts offer presentations on global issues and U.S. foreign policy.  

The United States and Mexico have a long, intertwined history, with both countries prominently featured in each other's trade and agendas.  The war on drugs, immigration and trade issues have taxed the relationship over the yuears.  What impact will new leadership in both countries have on this crucial partnership?

Pablo Toral is professor of Environmental Studies and International relations at Beloit College, where he currently chairs the Environmental Studies Program. He teaches courses in international political economy, environmental politics, development, international governance, international relations of Latin America and Europe and peace studies. Pablo received his PhD in international relations from Florida International University in 2003. He also holds a BA in journalism and an MA in international studies. His main research interests include political economy of the environment, multinational enterprises, development, social theory, and pedagogy. His publications include Multinational Enterprises in Latin America (New York: Palgrave, 2010), Latin America's Quest for Globalization: The Role of Spanish Firms (edited with Felix E. Martin) (London: Ashgate, 2005) and The Reconquest of the New World. Multinational Enterprises and Spain's Direct Investment in Latin America (London: Ashgate, 2001).
