Selected poems will be featured in a presentation and workshop led by curator Matthew Markworth. The session will explore topics such as the inspiration behind The Midwest Haiku Traveling Rock Garden, the haiku community, and the art of reading and writing haiku using the fragment-and-phrase technique. Attendees will also participate in season-based writing exercises suitable for all skill levels, offering the opportunity to craft their own haiku.

About the Midwest Haiku Traveling Rock Garden: A Regional Poetry Exhibit

Explore the depth of English-language haiku through this literary exhibit featuring 40 haiku poems by 32 poets. These poems draw inspiration from the natural and cultural landscapes of the Midwest, creating a themed collection that resonates with the region’s spirit. All participating poets have ties to the Midwest and all poems have been previously published in renowned haiku journals and contests. Curated by Ohio-based haiku poet Matthew Markworth.
