In 1977, the Chicago Sun-Times bought a bar and a team of reporters and photographers documented a system of corruption and bribery at the appropriately named Mirage, as health and fire inspectors demanded payments to overlook frayed wires, leaking pipes, rats, maggots, and roaches.
Forty years after the story of corruption exploded across the pages of the Sun-Times, Jim Frost, a retired photographer who was part of the investigative team, will provide a look back at one of the most elaborate investigations in American journalism history.
