Join us for the culminating event of Mead Public Library's celebration of National Poetry Month. The evening will feature "poetic pairings" shared by Sheboygan County luminaries and local poets, along with an open mic for anyone who wishes to share an original poem or an old favorite. All ages are welcome. Join us for what is sure to be an enlightening evening of verse and friendship. Some of the poets whose work will be shared include: Maya Angelou, Pablo Neruda, Gary Snyder, Marge Piercy, Shel Silverstein, and many others.

The event will be led by Sheboygan poet, Lisa Vihos, the 2015 winner of the Wisconsin People and Ideas poetry contest and one of the editors of Stoneboat Literary Journal.

  • Reverend Jim Hollister, First Congregational Church

  • Jim Kettler, Executive Director, Lakeshore Natural Resource Partnership

  • Leslie Laster, School Counselor, Horace Mann Middle School

  • Tricia Marton, Music teacher

  • Corey Andreason, Math teacher, North High School

  • Vue Yang, Owner, Union Oriental Market

  • Janet Ross, community volunteer and activist

  • Carol Dussault, Direct Services Coordinator, Literacy Council

  • Romina Uceda, project manager at Kohler Co. and volunteer at Mead Public Library and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
