Come join the Sheboygan County Quilters Guild for a day of quilting and music as we debut our brand new Go Big! fabric cutter. Work on a personal project, the community quilt or just drop by to see what all the fuss is about.
The Go Big! fabric cutter will be set up in the Maas Teen Center on the 3rd floor across from The Loft. Bring your own fabric or practice using the provided scraps of fabric and paper on Go Big! We will provide two sewing machines, so participants are encouraged to bring their own. Those with no machine or sewing experience can experiment fashioning a quilt from glue and paper.
Lil' Rev joins us in The Loft at 2pm for a performance of his Scraps of Quilting Music program.
A heartwarming one-man show borne from a passion for all things timeless and rooted. This ode to the American quilting tradition celebrates the untold number of quilters who let their stitches tell their stories. These gifts of patience touch everyone’s lives; whether they provide a little piece of home to a soldier in the thick of war; to providing warmth to a family in the thick of winter.
Featuring songs, stories, poetry and lore derived from personal interviews with elder quilters, historical documents. Themes in the show include:
- Quilts’ ability to pass down family history
- Quilts of Gee's Bend
- Quilts of the Civil War
- Quilts of the Old West
- The Aids Quilt
- and much more…
Brown bag lunch encouraged! Coffee provided.
