Join Emily Hall of Waxing Gibbous Tarot in exploring poetry written about and inspired by the tarot. In this class, we'll use a tarot meditation to explore how to interact with the characters of the deck as well as create original poetry to share with each other. You'll need a tarot deck, paper, and writing tools for this class. All levels of tarot experience are welcome.
Here’s Emily’s description of the class:
“Tarot reading and storytelling are deeply intertwined. The 78 cards of the Tarot are like a choose-your-own-adventure book intertwined with art history and the oral and metaphysical tradition. Join Emily Hall of Waxing Gibbous Tarot in exploring poetry written about and inspired by the tarot. We'll pick the 2 cards we are most drawn to and repelled by in the deck, and do a tarot meditation by Mary K. Greer that explores how to enter a tarot card and interact with the characters with each. We'll write a poem about each experience and share it with each other. We'll finish with a q+a. For class, you'll need a tarot deck, and writing tools/paper. You can join this class at any level of tarot experience, as we are exploring using the tarot to create writing and poetry. If you like, you can use the book that came with your deck to springboard your poetic process if you don't have the cards memorized, but this is unnecessary unless you feel stuck. I find the "entering a card" meditation to be very inspiring on its own and the art of the tarot to be evocative enough creatively to produce poetry.”
Emily has been reading tarot and doing spirit work off and on since 1996. She loves to use tarot for writing poetry and fairy tales and can be found at www.waxinggibboustarot.com
