Event Details

Tea & Tech: Girls' STEM Day connects girls grades 3-8 with female STEM mentors to inspire and educate the next generation of female professionals in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math. Planned in conjunction with both Ada Lovelace Day and the Wisconsin Science Festival, we offer a diverse selection of hands-on STEM activities. This event is created in partnership with Above & Beyond Children's Museum, MilliporeSigma, Red Raider Robotics, and Terra Sol Gardens.

A. Curiosity Labs | MilliporeSigma
Combine education with fun while conducting science experiments with MilliporeSigma. 
 

B. Digging Into the World: Exploring the Secrets Beneath Our Feet with Terra Sol Gardens
Soils are a foundation to life. We will uncover soil secrets by exploring different soils.
 

C. Robotics and Coding| Red Raider Robotics
Build Spike essential lego kits and program these bots to do simple movements. Test drive the Red Raider Robotics’ Babybot!

Keynote: Dr. Leslie Holland
Who do you call when your plants are sick? A plant doctor of course!
Hear from Dr. Leslie Holland, a fruit crop pathologist and assistant professor at UW-Madison share her path to becoming a plant doctor and how she uses science to help manage plant diseases.

Students and mentors will mingle and talk shop over tea and sweet treats.
