Join us for our WI Academy reception and talk! The talk will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24 in the Rocca Room. Presented in partnership with the Mead Public Library Foundation and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. 

Register in advance to secure your seat. Unregistered seats are available on a first-come, first served basis. 

The WI Academy Reception is the first part of this wonderful night presented in partnership with the Mead Public Library Foundation and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters. At the reception, all are invited for treats, beverages, and community. Speak with other attendees and the Fall 2023 presenter, UW-Madison astronomer Dr. Michael Maseda. At 7PM, head downstairs to the Rocca Room to hear The Dawn of the James Webb Space Telescope Era presented by Dr. Michael Maseda.

Presentation details: The clear and detailed images coming in from the James Webb Space Telescope depicting far-off galactic phenomena have captured our imaginations and set our eyes toward the stars. Meet one of the scientists who helped engineer the technology behind the telescope and is now interpreting the data coming down from it – UW-Madison astronomer Dr. Michael Maseda, who will lead a free lecture on the scientific implications of the images now being released from the telescope.
