THE JANUARY 9TH MEETING HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER

Join instructor Courtney Anne for this exciting new movement class in Mead's Rocca Room on the first floor on Tuesdays in January.

Asahi Nordic is a mind-body health exercise practice developed in Finland. The main goal is keeping the mind and body health and active throughout all stages of life. The Asahi practice is comprised of 12 exercises in a series. There are three exercises in each of the following areas: relaxation, neck and shoulders, back, and balance.

The book Asahi – The Nordic Health Practice (2022) shares “the movements of Asahi are basically relaxing and are designed to gently increase muscle stamina, balance, coordination and concentration.”

In this introductory class we will learn and practice both Asahi Series 1 and Series 2. The series are simple and easy to learn. All exercises are performed standing or can be modified sitting, and no special equipment or clothing is required.

The exercises were developed by exercise and geriatric specialists to ensure that risk of injury is low and the outcome of benefits of performing the exercises is extremely high. All ages and abilities are welcome.

Class meetings occur Tuesdays in January from 6-6:45. Students are encouraged to attend all four classes, but missing one is no big deal. This is a drop-in class, no registration required.
