Join the Sheboygan County LGBTQ Alliance for a book discussion series brought to you in partnership with Mead Library highlighting the diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community. Each month a different book covering a unique perspective on the queer experience will prompt deep, thought-provoking, and inspiring conversations for people who identify as LGBTQIA+ and straight allies alike. And if you don't know how you identify, but have a good faith desire to learn with curiosity and humility- we welcome you too. Join us for this facilitated book club that celebrates and explores queer life, love, and liberation. Books and discussions in this club may contain mature themes and language.

Dec. 1: Comfort and Joy (1993) by Jim Grimsley

Jan. 5: Last Night at the Telegraph Club (2021) by Malinda Lo
“That book. It was about two women, and they fell in love with each other.” And then Lily asked the question that had taken root in her, that was even now unfurling its leaves and demanding to be shown the sun: “Have you ever heard of such a thing?” Seventeen-year-old Lily Hu can’t remember exactly when the question took root, but the answer was in full bloom the moment she and Kathleen Miller walked under the flashing neon sign of a lesbian bar called the Telegraph Club.

Feb. 2: Loveless (2015) by Alice Oseman
From the marvelous author of Heartstopper comes an exceptional YA novel about discovering that it's okay if you don't have sexual or romantic feelings for anyone . . . since there are plenty of other ways to find love and connection.

March 2: Brave Face: A Memoir (2019) by Shaun David Hutchinson
This memoir, explicitly written for a young audience, is heartbreaking, funny, wise, and riddled with pain. It has the potential to save someone's life.

April 6: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo (2017) by Taylor Jenkins Reid
Imagine if Marilyn Monroe lived to be 79 years old, decided to write a tell-all book, and plucked you (assuming you’re an unknown journalist) out of obscurity to write it. Such is the premise of The Seven Husbands of Eveyln Hugo, and it’s fascinating.

May 4: Detransition, Baby (2021) by Torrey Peters
The lives of three women—transgender and cisgender—collide after an unexpected pregnancy forces them to confront their deepest desires in one of the most celebrated novels of the year.

June 1: All Are Welcome (2021) by Liz Parker
